About thirteen years ago, I came to the realization that I was living a life that I settled for opposed to one that I really wanted. By most people’s standards there wasn’t anything particularly wrong with my life, but I knew that I was ready for change. I also knew that the type of change I was looking for could not happen unless I cleaned up my financial situation.

I started my journey by digging into personal finance books, listening to podcasts, and attending free financial events. I pretty much consumed as much personal finance information as I could and by pasting together bits and pieces of information, I eventually cobbled together enough of a plan to get my finances where they needed to be.

Throughout the entire time I was working on that plan, the thing that I wish I had most was a connection with other people who were walking the same journey. Despite looking, I was never able to find that.

This was the primary reason I created the Different Money Different Life community. I wanted to connect people who are serious about improving their finances and provide a place for networking, encouraging one another, and celebrating victories together. Even more importantly, I wanted to provide a safe place for that to happen. A place away from the negative crowd and the spammers. A place where people would feel empowered to pursue the life they desire to see.
